There are trips that are fun… and then there are trips that stay with you long after you’re home. Our December stay in Bryson City at The Voice of the Wild 2 was one of those truly magical experiences, equal parts cozy cabin retreat and festive small-town adventure.
From the moment we arrived, we knew this Airbnb was special! Tucked perfectly into the mountains yet just minutes from downtown, The Voice of the Wild 2 gave us the best of both worlds: peaceful mornings surrounded by nature and easy access to every holiday festivity Bryson City had to offer. The cabin itself was warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed for families: plenty of space to gather, unwind, and make memories. Nights ended by the fire pit with s’mores under the stars, and mornings started slow, cozy, and grateful.
Festive Days + Delicious Eats
One of our favorite things about Bryson City is how much heart it has especially during the holidays. Every day felt intentional, joyful, and relaxed.
We kicked off one morning with breakfast treats from La Dolce Vita Bakery, where the pastries, coffee, and overall charm were the perfect start to a winter day. Another morning brought us to the iconic Everett Street Diner, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation - classic, comforting, and hands-down one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had!
For dinner, we leaned into cozy vibes. One night we picked up takeout from The Rice Wagon, enjoying some of the most delicious and authentic Hawaiian food around back at the cabin by the fire. Another evening called for pizza from a local spot - simple, easy, and perfect after a full day of exploring.
One of the standout meals of the trip was at Tuck & Table, a newer restaurant right on the water. From the service to the food to the ambiance, it was exceptional and quickly became a family favorite.
We also made sure to stop into the local Chocolate Shoppe to pick up sweet treats for family and friends back home (because what’s a mountain trip without chocolate?).
Holiday Magic Everywhere You Look
December in Bryson City feels like stepping into a Hallmark movie. We were lucky enough to catch the Bryson City Christmas Parade right on Main Street - festive, heartwarming, and full of small-town charm.
We spent time at Bryson City Town Hall, exploring their museum, participating in a fun scavenger hunt, and snapping photos at the adorable holiday displays set up around town. The little elves scattered throughout the area were such a thoughtful touch and made the experience especially magical for the kids.
One evening, we piled into the car for the Smoky Mountain Holiday Lights Spectacular, a drive-through light show that was truly breathtaking and so easy for families to enjoy together!
And then came the grand finale…
The Polar Express ✨
On our last night, after dinner at Tuck & Table, we boarded the Polar Express Train Ride for the 8:00 PM ride and it was pure magic! With hot chocolate, cookies, glowing lights, and wide-eyed excitement, it was one of those moments you wish you could bottle up forever. Riding at night made it even more special, and seeing the lights all around felt straight out of a storybook.
