As a mom, there’s nothing like finding that perfect park—one that wears your kids out in the best way, gives you a little nature escape, and maybe even has a shaded bench for a coffee break. Whether you’re planning a weekend adventure or need to get some midweek wiggles out, these Omaha-area parks and playgrounds are tried, true, and totally kid-approved.



🛝 1.

Zorinsky Lake Park

📍 156th & F Street (plus another newer playground near 168th)

Zorinsky is a local gem with something for everyone. The playgrounds are spacious and modern, with options for both little and big kids. There are beautiful walking and biking trails, open fields, and a lake where you’ll often see families kayaking or paddleboarding.


✨ Mom Tip: Pack scooters or bikes! The paved trails are great for active kiddos.

Chalco Hills Recreation Area

📍 8901 S 154th St

Think: wide open spaces, lake views, and peaceful trails. Chalco Hills has a small playground, but the real magic is in the room to roam. It’s perfect for nature walks, family bike rides, and simple unplugged time outside.

Hanscom Park

One of Omaha’s oldest parks, Hanscom has a charming, classic vibe with updated playground equipment, a duck pond, and shaded picnic areas. It’s a great midtown option if you want a peaceful outing without trekking to the suburbs.


✨ Mom Tip: Bring extra bread for the ducks and a camera—the gardens are gorgeous in spring!

Stinson Park at Aksarben Village

📍 67th & Center

Urban meets kid-friendly! Stinson Park has a fantastic modern playground and splash pad, plus an amphitheater and regular community events. It’s perfect for grabbing lunch nearby after the kids play.


✨ Mom Tip: Plan a playdate around one of the summer concerts or markets—they’re super family-friendly.

Dream Playground at Seymour Smith Park

📍 6802 Harrison St

One of the most inclusive playgrounds in Omaha, Dream Playground is designed for kids of all abilities. It’s colorful, expansive, and creative. The surrounding park also includes a skate park, baseball fields, and trails.


✨ Mom Tip: Don’t forget sunscreen—this playground is sunny and open.

Standing Bear Lake

📍 6404 N 132nd St

This park is a great option if you want water views with peaceful vibes. There’s a small playground, paved trails, and quiet spots for skipping rocks, fishing, or just enjoying the scenery.


✨ Mom Tip: It’s less crowded than other lakes—perfect for a calm day outside.

    📍 (24th & Lynwood Dr)

    A brightly colored, fully accessible playspace ideal for kids of all ages and abilities. It features a ramped playground structure, varied climbers, slides, spinners, rockers, and even a musical play area for creative interaction—all designed to promote language and communication skills  .

    Amenities: Tennis courts, picnic sites, paved walking trails, and parking .


    ✨ Highlight: One of the most inclusive playgrounds in the South Bellevue area .




  2. 🇺🇸 American Heroes Park

    📍 (Mission Ave, along Missouri River)

    Bellevue’s expansive 73‑acre commemorative park honoring military service members  . Features include a 10‑acre pond and fountain with a 0.6‑mile loop trail, fishing pier, memorial plazas, football and soccer fields, and multi‑use paths .

    This ALL NEW inclusive playground featuring interactive games, climbing features, swings, zoom slides, and a robust paved trail—claimed to be four times the size of other local playgrounds  .


    ✨ Mom Tip: you’re on the river so bring bug spray if you plan to hangout around dusk.


  3. Benson Park

    📍 7002 Military Ave (Benson neighborhood)

    A massive 217-acre playground for the senses—and seasons! Benson Park boasts:


    • A modern, inclusive playground with rubber safety surfacing, ramps, swings (including special needs options), climbing features, monkey bars, slides, and balance beams  .

    • A 3,200+ sq ft splash pad with 29 spray elements, lily pad motifs, and padded ground—open May through September  .

    • A scenic lagoon with a handicap-accessible fishing pier, walking trails (0.4‑0.6 mile loops), picnic pavilions, grills, restrooms, and ample parking  .
