Two Years Later: More Than an Event, A Community

There are moments as a host when you're busy making sure everything is running smoothly.

And then there are moments when you finally stop... look around the room... and simply take it all in.

That was this anniversary for me.

As I watched women laughing together, introducing themselves to someone new, hugging friends they had met at previous events, and supporting the incredible local businesses surrounding them, I couldn't help but reflect on the journey that brought us here.

Two years ago, I said yes to something that felt both exciting and a little intimidating.

I accepted the opportunity to lead the Southwest Florida chapter of Ladies Lifestyle Network, believing in the vision but not fully knowing what it would become.

I couldn't have imagined the friendships, conversations, collaborations, and life-changing moments that would grow from that one decision.

As I looked around the room during our anniversary celebration, I realized something.

I had no idea just how much this community would impact not only the women who walked through our doors... but me, too.

A Story That Went Beyond Success

One of the greatest gifts of the evening was hearing from our featured speaker, Melissa Vogt, Group Publisher for Florida Media Group.

Melissa could have spent the evening talking about awards, leadership, and career accomplishments.

Instead, she chose something much more meaningful.

She chose vulnerability.

Behind every promotion... Every career transition... Every professional accomplishment...

She shared what was happening behind the scenes.

The uncertainty. The pressure.

The moments she questioned herself.

She even admitted something many of us never would have guessed...

She's naturally introverted.

Showing up publicly, attending events, speaking in front of rooms, those weren't things that came easily to her.

And yet she kept showing up anyway.

Her greatest accomplishment wasn't listed on a résumé.

It was her son.

I think that's why her story resonated so deeply.

It reminded every woman in the room that success isn't about having the perfect script, the perfect degree, or the perfect timing.

It's about continuing to say yes, even when you don't feel completely ready.

A Community That Shows Up

One thing that stood out to me all evening was the people who showed up for Melissa.

Friends. Colleagues. Community members. Board members. Supporters.

Watching them celebrate her reminded me exactly what genuine community looks like.

It wasn't simply support for a speaker.

It was gratitude for the impact one woman has made throughout Southwest Florida.

And as Melissa reflected on her journey...

Many of us quietly reflected on our own.

Why We Highlight Local Non-Profits

Every LLN event also shines a light on an organization making a difference in our community.

This month, we were honored to partner with Our Mother's Home.

Several members of their Board of Directors joined us, and hearing their CEO share the heart behind the organization was incredibly moving.

Their mission is about far more than providing housing.

They are helping young mothers transition from foster care and survivors of human trafficking into lives filled with hope, stability, education, and opportunity.

She just opened her Christmas Micro-Minis for July and you will want to be a part of that! Some sessions even have a highland cow! Who doesn't love them?! Vibe & Vision: Events By Tayler - for our incredible photo backdrop and our statement piece (and my anniversary momento for life)! She is the sweetest, most creative, and helpful woman I've met in a long time. Those balloons are just a challenge in themselves.

Pictique - for their amazing photo booth where we could capture fun and goofy moments of these ladies just having fun with one other that they could take home.

Chocolattés - for a beautiful venue that stayed open for us and the best team who were beyond helpful and full of praise. We were supplied with fuel and caffeine and that never goes unnoticed. So grateful!
