I’m always up for trying something new, and this was our first social that was held at a private business space. Kim Ortiz, owner of Kim Ortiz Portrait Art in Hill Country Galleria @kimortizportraitart, generously offered her new studio space for our event, and it was INCREDIBLE! It is such a beautiful wide open studio and it was perfect for a night of networking and connection.
Kim was also our speaker for this month’s event and shared her story of perseverance “From Refugee to Entrepreneur”. Kim owns Kim Ortiz Portrait Art located at the Hill Country Galleria. She started her career out with a degree in Accounting but never truly found love doing number crunching. After getting her CPA, she continued her path in her corporate career with an MBA in Leadership to transition into Human Resources. The turning point came in 2012 and she took a leap of faith following her heart. Her journey from a refugee from Vietnam during the fall of Saigon in 1975 to how focusing on her WHY helped her to do what she loves and is now celebrating her 4th studio as a professional portrait artist/photographer. She shared her inspiring journey of no matter where you come from, you can have success doing what you love.
American Heart Association was our featured non-profit. Theresa shared about the organization and the ways we can help them outreach in the community. If you are interested in learning CPR, reach out to AHA! They can’t certify, but they can teach you this life saving skill.
