WU CHOW: A CULINARY GEM IN AUSTIN

In the vibrant culinary scene of Austin, Texas, Wu Chow stands out as a prominent destination for those seeking authentic and delectable Chinese cuisine. With its origins deeply rooted in traditional Chinese flavors and techniques, Wu Chow has quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional dishes, welcoming ambiance, and dedication to accommodating various dietary preferences.

Wu Chow draws inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of the five main regions of China: Sichuan, Shanghai, Hunan, Beijing, and Taiwan. The restaurant was founded by Chef Ji Peng Chen, whose extensive knowledge and experience in Chinese cuisine are reflected in every dish. Chef Chen’s vision was to introduce Austin to the diverse flavors and techniques found throughout China, bringing an elevated dining experience to the city.

The menu at Wu Chow is a harmonious blend of classic and innovative dishes, featuring a wide range of flavors and textures. From the fiery spices of Sichuan to the delicate flavors of Shanghai, guests can embark on a culinary journey that showcases the best of Chinese cuisine. One remarkable aspect of Wu Chow’s menu is its gluten-free options, making it an inclusive choice for diners with specific dietary needs.

Among the array of tantalizing dishes at Wu Chow, two standouts have gained a loyal following. The honey pecan prawns offer a delightful balance of sweet and savory, with succulent prawns coated in a sticky honey glaze and sprinkled with toasted pecans. This dish is a perfect example of Wu Chow’s ability to seamlessly blend traditional Chinese flavors with a modern twist.

In addition to the honey glaze prawns, two of my favorite dishes are Spicy Sichuan Deep-Fried Chicken (gluten free!) and Dry Fried Local Green Beans. Both of these yummy dishes are featured on the happy hour menu too!

Another must-try at Wu Chow is their dim sum offerings. These bite-sized delicacies are meticulously crafted and artfully presented. From steamed dumplings filled with fragrant meats and vegetables to crispy spring rolls bursting with flavors, the dim sum at Wu

Chow is a crowd-pleaser that allows diners to experience the authentic charm of this

traditional Chinese dining style. Check out the Sunday dim sum brunch!

Wu Chow’s ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern sophistication and traditional Chinese aesthetics. The restaurant features sleek décor with dark wood accents, warm lighting, and carefully chosen elements that evoke a sense of elegance. The spacious dining area offers a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal setting for intimate dinners, family gatherings, or celebrations.

Wu Chow is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Austin at 500 W 5th St #168, Austin, TX 78701. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, providing an opportunity to savor their exceptional cuisine throughout the day.
