Starting a business often comes from a clear plan or lifelong dream. But sometimes, it happens in a way you never expected. This is the story of how a former teacher found a new path as a solo entrepreneur, creating a brand that reflects both personality and passion. It’s a journey about change, growth, and finding balance while building something meaningful.
A Shift in Passion
I never imagined myself as a business owner. My original plan was to become a teacher, and I still hold a deep respect and love for education. Teaching shaped who I am, and I carry that heart with me every day. But toward the end of 2025, something shifted. I realized my interests were evolving, and I wanted to explore new opportunities beyond the classroom.
That’s when the idea of starting my own business came to me. It wasn’t a slow build or a long-held dream. It came almost overnight. I decided to take a chance on myself and step into the world of entrepreneurship. This leap was both exciting and intimidating, but it felt right.
The Birth of Short Spark Media
The name Short Spark Media came naturally. I’m petite, but I bring a lot of energy and drive to my work. I wanted a name that captured both my size and my personality—a small package with a big impact. That play on words became the foundation of my brand.
What makes Short Spark Media stand out in its industry is the honesty and openness about growth. I’m still learning and evolving as a business owner. For new entrepreneurs looking to work with someone who understands the challenges of starting fresh, I offer a partnership built on shared experience and mutual growth.
If you’re willing to take a chance on someone who is passionate and committed to improving every day, I’d love to connect.
Finding Balance Between Work and Life
Balancing entrepreneurship with personal life is a work in progress. Leaving the classroom gave me a clearer boundary between work and home. Now, I keep my work hours mostly between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. After that, I focus on winding down and taking time for myself.
Flexibility is one of the biggest gifts of running my own business. I can take breaks during the day to walk, meet friends for coffee, or have a working lunch with other creators. This freedom helps me stay energized and connected without feeling trapped by a strict schedule.
Tips for Building Your Own Routine
I’m still figuring out the best daily routine, but here’s what works for me right now:
Dedicate focused time each day to work on your business.
Set aside time for side projects and hobbies.
Use hobbies as rewards to stay motivated.
For example, I’m currently reading the Housemaid series by Freida McFadden. Finishing a chapter after a productive work session feels like a real treat. Finding activities you enjoy outside of work helps keep your energy balanced and your mind fresh.
What Makes Me, Me
Beyond the business, I’m someone who values growth, connection, and authenticity. My journey from teaching to entrepreneurship wasn’t planned, but it has been rewarding. I’m proud to build a business that reflects who I am and what I believe in.
If you’re starting your own path or thinking about a change, remember that it’s okay to grow and learn as you go. Taking chances can lead to unexpected and fulfilling opportunities.
